This blog describes the flight of a cell phone attached to some helium balloons.
It left Chicago at 7:30PM on Wednesday June 3rd, and arrived in Nova Scotia about 24 hours later. It appears to have not had a good signal for most of the flight, but was able to report it's path and coordinates once it landed.
Currently it is in some trees, likely killed during a rain shower the morning of Saturday 6/6/2009. It might dry off or wake up, but it seems a bit unlikely.
Good news (??)--- It still has ballast according to the last pictures. I can see the black wire hook on the bottom left corner of the pictures. It should "just barely be buoyant" minus the one balloon.
ReplyDeleteGo go Ivory!
No new pictures until the AM. It's in the Atlantic timezone, so... 5 AM?
The balloon is probably not fully deflated, so it's probably a little buoyant. Somebody wanna run over there with a pair of scissors?
