This blog describes the flight of a cell phone attached to some helium balloons.
It left Chicago at 7:30PM on Wednesday June 3rd, and arrived in Nova Scotia about 24 hours later. It appears to have not had a good signal for most of the flight, but was able to report it's path and coordinates once it landed.
Currently it is in some trees, likely killed during a rain shower the morning of Saturday 6/6/2009. It might dry off or wake up, but it seems a bit unlikely.
Ummm...51,000 feet????
ReplyDelete107 MPH? Are we looking at blue sky, clouds, or WTF?

Look at the outlier data point. This is the Atlantic. Network-assisted GPS is failing us.
